Ikea Montpellier

by jirukun on Jul.02, 2008, under Appartment, Dumb, France

I just came back from Ikea… I’LL NEVER GO BACK AGAIN UNLESS I’M ON HOLIDAYS!!!

That’s how I feel

Apart from the usual feeling of being ripped off, I feel that they made fun of me :?

I needed €1 so that I can take a carrage to load the various boxes and such, but I didn’t have any coins, so I went to the yellow register/cashier and he told me that I needed to go to the green one, I go to the green register and the lasy looks at me like I was crazy telling me that there is a money changing machine right next to the trollies…  8O

Changed a €10 bill and got many little coins, used one to unlock the trolly, and went to the register fully loaded, I asked for them to ship the stuff to my house they guy is very curtious and finishes with my order and request and takes the trolly with the €1 coin IN IT! :x

On the road to

by jirukun on Dec.04, 2007, under Dumb, Italy, Love, Personal, Religion, Tunis

I never thought that getting married was such a hassle!

A couple of posts back I said that it wasn’t that hard (actually it’s not) but it’s really time consuming.

I had to get a certificate stating that I’m a Muslim from the Tunisian mufty (I liked him :) ) the process got a bit on my nerve but that was caused by the mufty’s secretary (I hated him :( ). I wonder what should I do with that piece of paper, will it take me into heaven? or am I exempted from praying? I don’t mean to insult my religion or anyone, but I’m a but shocked that a paper exists stating that one is a Muslim or not!. If a person becomes a Muslim in Morocco and converts back in his home in Europe would that be OK? is he still a Muslim in Morocco?  - politics!!!

My fiancée is currently running around to get all the needed papers and approvals (God help her with the bureaucracy and shield her from the stupid/ignorant government employees) so that we can translate them and start the procedures in Italy. (below you’ll see a picture of her taken in a brief instant running between the various offices)

A brief glimps

Wish her and my self luck…  We have a lot of things to do :)

Big cities

by jirukun on Nov.12, 2007, under General, Home, Italy, Travel

I always complained of Montpellier.

I remember hating small cities/towns, shopping is not easy (you can’t find everything you want/need), nothing to do after a while (seriously what can you do after 10+ years is a city of no more than 300′000 people?)

2 week-end’s ago I went to Milan to visit my aunt and cousin and do a few personal things, as you may imagine I was happy and excited to go back to Milan (Caput mundi — capital of the world in latin ;) at least for me), shoping, people, friends, being able to do what I wanted (in terms of going around and sight seeing).

Tetti

Boy was I wrong! :(

I would have never imagined to say this, but I got accustomed to living in Montpellier. Let’s face it

  • Limited/no smog
  • No traffic (at least not close to the one’s in Milan)
  • I can find more or less the same things available everywhere else

ShoppingOn the other hand I’ll always miss Milan for

  • My Family (Aunt, cousins)
  • My grandmother’s home
  • GOOD FOOD!
  • Transportation (when not full)

Metro

I just realized that I kept only the good memories and stuff in my head, all the bad stuff (traffic, smog, politics, …etc…) I erased it from my head (it’s common right?)

The good thing is that  my aunt and cousin are OK :)

This thing said, I need to go ahead and think about my future (preparations, re-establishing contacts with friends, and work).

Recovering :)

by jirukun on Sep.02, 2007, under Dumb, France, Italy, Travel, Tunis, Work, colleagues

I really needed this week-end, I locked my self in my house with lot’s & lot’s of completely nothing to do ;)

Thanks to my family and all my friends who called asking if everything was OK, just to let you know that everything is OK :)

The story is simple, I went to have lunch at a Tunisian fast food restaurant, and i left my bag on the side of the table and I left with out taking it with me :( . It contained my passport, digital camera, Ipod, personal mobile phone and few coins of no great value.

I ran back to the place and didn’t find the bag where I left it so I asked the waitress and cashier and they told me that saw it there and that a customer took it, I asked a few other clients and they told me that the waitress took it, so I asked again and they denied everything, so I went to the police, 2 days later they arrested the waitress where they played a little game with her, they told her that they would give her some money to get the bag back and they would drop the charges, she agreed and took a taxi that was working with the police, she stopped in an empty place and ran (yep, she didn’t pay the fare), so they arrested her again.

In the mean time I got a message from a little girl who told me that she had something that belonged to me, so we arranged a meeting in the hotel and it turns out that she was a 15 year old girl who found the bag thrown by the side of a dumpster, and when she opened it she found my passport and entry papers. I told her to return it to the nearest police station where she lived and the next day I called the police telling them the story, it turns out that the waitress lived where the bag was found, so they searched her house and found nothing :( .

I lost a few things but I got a couple of heat strokes and a fever :? due to temperatures of over 42 degrees.

All is fine now al7amdulillah :D I’m back to my self again and looking forward :)

Thanks to everyone who helped me and/or called asking :D

11 days…

by jirukun on Aug.29, 2007, under Airlines, Airports, Family, Friends, Italy, Love, Travel, Tunisair

What can I say… They weren’t enough

I’m sorry for the theft of my stuff, I actually feel a camera, Ipod & mobile phone lighter  .On the other hand I can’t complain since I’ve stayed for 11 days!!!  ( I’m such an egoist :? )

I’m posting this from the business lounge of Carthage airport, fresh juices and some light snacks and thank God a free internet connection :)

I’ll try to post a detailed story of the theft when I’m in Rome for the night or tomorrow when I get back to Montpellier.

Miss you guys already :)

The worst ever…

by jirukun on Jun.03, 2007, under AirFrance, Airlines, Airports, France, Italy, Meridiana, Travel, Work

I’m back from the worst trip EVER!!! (I do mean it)

They lost my bag going, I managed to get it back after 3 days (they found it and gave it back practically when I was leaving) :?

Anyone would think that a 3 day trip wouldn’t get any worse. Well they are wrong!

On the way back I had to change airports in Paris (CDG -> Orly) practically on the other side of Paris, with a 3h layover :(

  • There was a Airfrance bus strike, when I asked I was told that it was 2 days earlier.
  • Paris traffic on Friday IS A NIGHTMARE!!! people don’t know how to drive, there were accidents everyone.
  • Lost my flight to Montpellier.
  • Tried to call my agency to find another flight and they put me on hold for 30 minutes, only to ask me to call them back in 15 minutes :?
  • The new booked flight was delayed for 40 minutes :’(

If it wasn’t for a colleague at work who helped me I could have been stranded in Paris not knowing what to do (Thanks Helen I owe you one big time!!!)
