Tunis

Last stretch…

by jirukun on Jun.30, 2008, under Love, Personal, Travel, Tunis

Yep… 10 days to go (Insha’ Allah)

I’m getting a bit nervous due to the things I’m finishing and preparing…

By a nose

  1. Finish cleaning the appartment (2-3 day tops to finsh)
  2. Buy new furniture (sofa, ..etc..)
  3. Decide how to go to Marseille (train or rental?)
  4. Rent a car in Tunis
  5. Rent a car for the return trip

Obviously there are other minor points here & there but I don’t want to spill my beans everywhere ;)

But I have faith in GOD then my self to pull this off :D

On the road to

by jirukun on Dec.04, 2007, under Dumb, Italy, Love, Personal, Religion, Tunis

I never thought that getting married was such a hassle!

A couple of posts back I said that it wasn’t that hard (actually it’s not) but it’s really time consuming.

I had to get a certificate stating that I’m a Muslim from the Tunisian mufty (I liked him :) ) the process got a bit on my nerve but that was caused by the mufty’s secretary (I hated him :( ). I wonder what should I do with that piece of paper, will it take me into heaven? or am I exempted from praying? I don’t mean to insult my religion or anyone, but I’m a but shocked that a paper exists stating that one is a Muslim or not!. If a person becomes a Muslim in Morocco and converts back in his home in Europe would that be OK? is he still a Muslim in Morocco?  - politics!!!

My fiancée is currently running around to get all the needed papers and approvals (God help her with the bureaucracy and shield her from the stupid/ignorant government employees) so that we can translate them and start the procedures in Italy. (below you’ll see a picture of her taken in a brief instant running between the various offices)

A brief glimps

Wish her and my self luck…  We have a lot of things to do :)

A BIG thank you

by jirukun on Dec.04, 2007, under Family, Personal, Tunis

An enormous THANK YOU to my *new* family :)

No I didn’t get married yet, but the last 2 weeks when I was in Tunis, I was pampered and served by my new family, they were extremely kind and generous in everything.

My future father-in-law even proposed that I crash at a friends (soon to be a family member him self ;) ) house seeing that he was alone and he had a big house.

I know that they won’t read this post directly, but I know that someone will surely tell them :D

To a great Family

Never thought it would be easy, but…

by jirukun on Nov.22, 2007, under Love, Personal, Tunis

Seriously, I’ve gone to the Italian embassy this morning to see what papers they need so that I can get married and get my future wife to Italy with me. I was a bit shocked since they didn’t ask for many things, I’ll need to be delegated from my future wife to announce our marriage in Italy (a medieval thing :? ) so I would to visit Milan a couple of times at least ;) + some extra papers that I can easily get (maybe, probably, HOPEFULLY).

Cuoricino

The other thing is since I’m going to get married as an Italian, the Tunisian government needs to be sure that I’m a Muslim, on Monday I’ll have to meet the Tunisian grand mufty (wow… what should I wear?). I don’t think that there would be any complications even after I met the secretary who wasn’t convinced that my name is Arabic :s (I won’t change my name!! I love jirukun ^_^)

Anyway… Pray for me guys :D

Recovering :)

by jirukun on Sep.02, 2007, under Dumb, France, Italy, Travel, Tunis, Work, colleagues

I really needed this week-end, I locked my self in my house with lot’s & lot’s of completely nothing to do ;)

Thanks to my family and all my friends who called asking if everything was OK, just to let you know that everything is OK :)

The story is simple, I went to have lunch at a Tunisian fast food restaurant, and i left my bag on the side of the table and I left with out taking it with me :( . It contained my passport, digital camera, Ipod, personal mobile phone and few coins of no great value.

I ran back to the place and didn’t find the bag where I left it so I asked the waitress and cashier and they told me that saw it there and that a customer took it, I asked a few other clients and they told me that the waitress took it, so I asked again and they denied everything, so I went to the police, 2 days later they arrested the waitress where they played a little game with her, they told her that they would give her some money to get the bag back and they would drop the charges, she agreed and took a taxi that was working with the police, she stopped in an empty place and ran (yep, she didn’t pay the fare), so they arrested her again.

In the mean time I got a message from a little girl who told me that she had something that belonged to me, so we arranged a meeting in the hotel and it turns out that she was a 15 year old girl who found the bag thrown by the side of a dumpster, and when she opened it she found my passport and entry papers. I told her to return it to the nearest police station where she lived and the next day I called the police telling them the story, it turns out that the waitress lived where the bag was found, so they searched her house and found nothing :( .

I lost a few things but I got a couple of heat strokes and a fever :? due to temperatures of over 42 degrees.

All is fine now al7amdulillah :D I’m back to my self again and looking forward :)

Thanks to everyone who helped me and/or called asking :D
